Heather Blakey, Webmaster, Soul Food Cafe
"Midlife is the perfect time to reinvent yourself. You have the hard-earned wisdom of aging, the kids are (hopefully) out of the house, and if you’re lucky, a tiny bit more money than you had when you were 20. It’s time to stretch your wings and try something new, something exciting, something … creative!
“But I’m not creative,” you say. Au contraire."
In the first, of a three part series, Karen Roberts writes about the creative world of Soul Food and Lemuria.
Writing/Art Groups
Soul Food has a long history of providing free space for artists and writers. You can meet and mingle with older patrons and visit the rooms they had at Soul Food. The Rookery is a creative container which holds the work of Soul Food Cafe Ravens, creative women who have gained their wings by working within Lemuria for an extended period of time.
Newcomers to Soul Food who are WordPress savvy are invited to engage in the Pythian Games and discover the interactive nature of Soul Food. This, the Taverna di Muse,The Temple of Solace and specialty blogs like Once Upon a Midnight are freely available for writers and artists seeking an audience. Feel free to contact heatherblakey at fastmail.fm for more information.
Praise for Soul Food
"I've quietly watched from the sidelines an amazing thing going on over at Heather Blakey's Soul Food Cafe during the last year. This passionately creative woman, writing teacher, mentor-to-many, and non-stop imagineer has pulled off something so significant, so wonderful, so nurturing to writers and artists of all shapes and sizes. I can't even put it into words. So I did the best next thing. I asked Heather to put it into her own words. And still, she shares the wealth. Curious?" by Chris Dunmire 2006
Juicy Journaling With SARK

Make sure to have a copy of SARK's newest book, Juicy Pens and Thirsty Paper, and see Susan's interview with Heather Blakey, the artistic midwife who created the Soul Food Cafe, provides a safe haven and has personally guided the rebirth of so much creativity.
SARK has just launched her newest eProgram, called Juicy Journaling with SARK! It’s a juicy new journey through words, feelings, and fabulously juicy living, and I’m happy to share that I’m featured in the Program as one of the contributors. SARK designed this eProgram to inspire writers of any and all levels to go new places with words. It’s overflowing with multi-media tools to unearth your writing voice and nourish your soul. A Word Of Caution
Soul Food is a free site and Heather Blakey has freely permitted others to share her interior world. Lemuria is a world she built as a safe haven. If any one threatens this sanctuary or steals from Heather Blakey or the Soul Food Community they can expect that strong action will be taken
